An 80s metalhead and a 90s alt-rocker play Gen X hits on ukuleles.
ABOUT
Zachry Wheeler is a 90s alt-rocker who released four studio albums and spent his formative years in mosh pits. He’s also an award-winning science fiction author.
Leo Galvez is an 80s metalhead who exited the womb with a guitar in hand. He’s a bassist at heart, loves to tinker, and is an award-winning amateur luthier.
After decades of hauling around heavy amps, Zachry and Leo decided to nurse their middle-aged backs and jam on ukuleles. Thus was born Punching Turnips, a Gex X Ukulele Duo.
Our repertoire includes Turnipified covers of Radiohead, Guns N’ Roses, Smashing Pumpkins, Ozzy Osbourne, Concrete Blonde, Tears for Fears, Nirvana, and many more!
